Stacks Image 412
This article is defined as an easy-to-understand stating point. So the intent with this post is to take a journey to the next evolution of the SAP ERP database S/4HANA and defining a strategic journey. There are many possible deviations to any planned route that may or may not be viable in some specific circumstances and these would need to be discussed with an advisor based upon particular requirements.

It empowers customers to manage their own orders with full visibility of the order fulfilment process.

Many of today’s leading organisations are using machine learning–based tools to automate the decision making processes, and they are starting to experiment with more-advanced uses of artificial intelligence (AI) for digital transformation. This month at the WWDC2017 Apple made major announcements many of which it attributed to Machine Learning capabilities.

Developing a Digital Strategy

Software vendors and Systems Integrators (SI's) are providing digitalisation strategies and products that are impacting every aspect of business and changing the rules of the game on every front. In the forefront of this technology innovation we have some Colossus Digital Giants – Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, IBM, Tencent, Baidu, and Alibaba. These colossus giants operate solely in the digital domain and have become a threat to incumbent firms everywhere. Incumbents that wish to survive yet alone flourish need to respond by conceiving their own digital strategy.

Programme Delivery - Change is the only constant

With this dynamic pace of change in the ERP eco-system and then delivery models (e.g. SOCA, cloud, SaaS, PaaS, etc.) there is a growing trend in programme management to add a “NewTech” buffer in the planning stages. This buffer is not necessarily to implement the new “Must-have” upgrades, but is rather a period in which the business and the delivery team can assess the options available on how and when to integrate this new offering into the solution design.

Comprehending the size of BIG Data

When we discuss "Big Data" what do we mean by "BIG"... Do people really comprehend the sheer scale and rate that the digital world has grown and continues to do so exponentially...

The false economy of using cheap consultants

Stacks Image 430
At a high level most programs running to plan are measured on budget and time however this does not always mean that quality and efficiency are of an acceptable standard. Sacrificing a little bit of time and budget to front load the program can often, if done correctly, have a very strong and positive impact on the program stability and provide a solid risk mitigation to a program. Unfortunately the less experienced practitioners will often see these early steps as avoidable costs and opportunities to save time.
But to coin a phrase "the Devils in the detail" and this is very very true. As with the coding example above a good intention or quick fix can often cause years of issue.

Creating a Project/Programme Management Office [PMO] Structure

Stacks Image 639
What Are the Benefits of Having a PMO?
According to Gartner, an investment in a Project/Programme Management Office (PMO) as a management discipline within an organisation can provide common planning and reporting processes and bring structure and support to evaluating, justifying, defining, planning, tracking and executing projects and programmes. It also encourages the resolution of conflicts caused by limited resources and other constraints.
